Government of Telangana to encourage purchase of Electric Vehicles with an objective of reducing vehicular pollution, improving air quality, promoting sustainable mobility and encouraging the adoption of eco-friendly transportation, has issued G.O.Ms. No. 41, dated 16-11-2024 granting 100% exemption from Road Tax and Registration fees for certain category vehicles purchased and registered in Telangana State for the initial period of two years i.e., up to 31.12.2026, irrespective of the number of vehicles registered. From 16.11.2024 to 31.07.2026, an amount of Rs.1,686.29 Cr has been exempted in respect of 1,72,032 Electric Vehicles.

Telangana Government has announced Vehicle Scrappage Policy on 30.09.2024. At present there are 3 RVSFs in the State. The number of Vehicles scrapped in the RVSFs is as follows.

Vide G.O. Ms. No. 28 dated:30.09.2024 administrative sanction was accorded for construction of 37 Automated Testing Stations at the cost of Rs. 8.00 Crores (Rupees Eight Crores only) each for a total amount Rs. 296.00 Crores (Rupees Two Hundred and Ninety-six Crores only) through Roads & Buildings Department providing necessary budget and also permit to construct 15 Automated Testing Stations one for each erstwhile District Headquarters with 4 additional AUTOMATED TESTING STATIONS for Greater Hyderabad/ HMDA Area in Phase-I with a Cost of Rs. 8.00 Crores each totaling to Rs. 120.00 Crores through Roads & Buildings Department. Accordingly, 37 Preliminary Registration Certificates have been issued. The R&B Department has been entrusted the work and the Tender was floated in the month of March 2026.

There were 15 Transport Check Posts, of which 14 were border Check Posts and 1 was intra-state check post located at Kamareddy. Functio ns of Check Posts are regulating Motor Vehicles of Other States entering into Telangana; Collection of Taxes from Other State Transport Vehicles; Issuing Temporary Permits to Other State Vehicles and Regulating the movement of commuters of Other States during the Elections etc.

In view of the growing need for sustainable and eco-friendly transportation options, and to combat the rising levels of air and noise pollution, the Govt. of Telangana has taken a major step by approving addl. permits for alternative-fuel-based 3-W Auto rickshaws within ORR limits.

To prevent misuse and ensure fair distribution, it has been decided to allow only one permit per individual. Moreover, the issuance or transfer of permits for diesel/petrol auto rickshaws within the ORR is strictly prohibited henceforth.
